Here is the reason why Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 still makes sense even in year 2020
We are in 2020 and Bajaj launched the Pulsar RS 200 in 2015. A massive 5 year gap without an update aside from the BS3 to BS4 to BS6 and some stickering jobs. But the bike is more or less the same. It uses the same Duke derived 199.5 cc mill that generates beefy 24.5 hp and 19 nm of torque. Which is good i think pretty good for a 200cc bike. It has a polarising design theme but it is a head turner nonetheless. It gets good sales numbers as well. But some people think that it is old and outdated just because it doesn’t have all digital instrument cluster, LED lights and all. But if you think about it. How much a digital instrument cluster is important to you if a semi digital one gives you decent level of information and talking about LED lights, most of the new bikes comes with LED lights have pathetic illumination just some bikes have a good light setup like Bajaj Dominar 400, Duke 390, TVS Apache RR 310.
RS has full fairing and now the quality and fit and finish is also better than the first iteration of bike. So now we come to the point, why it still makes sense ? Here are the reasons.
1. Head turner looks
When someone see your bike. They turn the head and look again. It has a road presence no denying that fact.
2. Projector Headlights
It has twin Projector Headlights setup. Which at night gives you very good illumination.
3. Comfortable
Even after having a Race badge in it’s name it is a comfortable motorcycle to live with. In the city or out on the highway it is a great bike. Neutral riding posture and comfortable seat and suspension setup.
4. Good handler
It has a very pliant suspension setup. Soft enough to soak those nasty bumps and stiff enough to put a smile on your face when you chuck it into a corner. It has a perimeter frame and sticky tyres. So it is a nice handler as well.
5. Punchy Engine
All power and torque figures mentioned above makes a statement in itself. It is the most powerful bike in the budget 200 cc segment. Because KTM’s are so expensive they are in the different segment. It has performance for every thing. City commutes, highway runs and track days as well. The engine is fairly refined as well.
